At 64 years old and having been past the turn-off many 100's of time my wife and I decided to go and see what is there. And Simply it is Fantastic. The walk lasts about 1.5 hours and is quite easy. The mud pools, steam and caves are excellent. A simple café with excellent toilets. It really is worth the detour.
Orakei is slightly off the beaten track, but it is easy to find as it is well sign-posted. It is well worth a visit. It is less crowded than the attractions in Rotorua. There are plenty of interesting thermal features, with a variety ranging from geysers to mud pools. The layout of the paths is excellent. The signage is cleverly... 更多
Orakei Cave and Thermal Park is a highly active geothermal area between Rotorua and Taupo. I thought the park was a highlight of New Zealand. The only quibble I have is that the staff at the counter could have been a bit more welcoming. That said, I enjoyed the park. The visit starts with a short boat ride across Lake... 更多
We went here as part of a jet boat adventure and spent a couple of hours looking around. I'm not sure if it's the best thermal area to visit, but it was nice. You could wonder around on your own at your own pace, and there weren't many people.
We arrived in the rain and seriously contemplated whether it was worth the $ and time to take the trip. In hindsight, the rain added to the experience - the steam stood out more and the whole place looked even more amazing!! It really is an awesome place to visit. Our only suggestion would be a little more enthusiasm and... 更多

The park is a fascinating place to visit. All the more so as it is a natural attraction and the landscape is out of this world. It's hard to believe that this place is real, it is quite extraordinary and well worth the visit.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review, we're glad you found it to be a fascinating experience 更多
I hadn't been here for 40yrs. I was apprehensive about buying an entry then stuggling on the walk as i now use a stick. The lady on reception told me there were 625 steps and i thought there goes my opportunity to wander down memory lane. She was so kind and said ... take the boat accross and have a... 更多
We have just spent a couple of hours exploring the park. Keeping teenagers entertained is always hard but 3 kids aged 9, 16 and 17 also really enjoyed the walk. You are really close to everything here. The cafe is also very nicely situated for a cup of tea afterwards. Thanks guys!
We spent an enjoyable 3 hours exploring the thermal park, well worth the drive from the main highway between Rotorua and Taupo. The paths are self guided and are very well maintained and signed. Lots to see from geysers and steaming hot running water, a cave and bubbling mud pool. The path takes you to good vantage points around the... 更多
