Ever have one of those busy errand filled days that make you long for playful, fun days at the beach? Well as we have learned a quick 20 min stop at back beach and its giant sand dune will cure all longing.
Great walk along the beach to the massive sand slide which kids and adults alike slide down on boogie boards. The West Coast is full of surprises
Great beach for a walk or a surf. Head out at low tide and walk towards the Sugar Loaf Islands or play in the tidal pools. Keep an eye out for whales and seals. Cliffs are spectacular to look at.
Back Beach is located 5 mins drive from New Plymouth overlooking Sugar Loaf Marine Park & Paritutu. Its known for its good surfing conditions & black volcanic sand. Coming from Australia with our white sandy beaches this beach although in a gorgeous setting it was hard to come to terms with the black sand. Toilet's & parking are available. There... 更多
Another part of NP I hadn't been to for years. The best part was being able to let my dog loose for a run. NP is so lucky to have so many great beaches. Strike it at the right time and you may be the only ones on the beach. You can always pick out the overseas visitors by their... 更多
Highly recommend this beach, it is within walking distance from town if you don't have a car and you have all day. Just follow the coastal walkway to the port, then get on to the main road head towards paritutu Rock. Be careful when swimming, it can be dangerous because of the rips, great at low tide.
This is our local beach, right on our doorstep. Great surf, lovely walk right along the beach, and generally good for swimming, although at times you have to look out for rips. Our two dogs love this beach and they are allowed to be down there without any restrictions as to what time of day and which days. So perfect... 更多
This for me is such a special place and never somewhere I will tire of. With the glorious backdrops, stunning (boiling hot) sand, numerous little caves and beautiful views. You are inundated with options for walks and adventures for the younger crowd. If you are visiting Taranaki fullstop you NEED to check out our beautiful beach. Please be aware how... 更多
The owner of our bed & breakfast recommended we pop down here for a look and we are glad we did, it is stunning. The dark sands are unusual to me as I am used to the bright white sands of Austrlia, I presume this is related to the volcanic activity in the area. Parututu Rock makes a beautiful backdrop... 更多
