I was treated to a day on the lake by a work mate of my brothers. We went all around the lake stopping off at various places. And apart from the breath taking views and stunning scenery the Hot water beach has to top it all . I will admit to being caught out by the title . The water in... 更多
I went to Hot Water Beach with a small group of friends on the water taxi, which cost $25 pp. You drive to Tarawera Landing, and park. The water taxi leaves from there, crosses Lake Tarawera, and drops you at the hot water beach. It is just hot springs coming up in the sandy edge of the lake. Some people... 更多
We walked the 15km Tarawera walk around the lake edge. This was well rewarded with a dip in the hot water beach for a few hours. The water is crystal clear and we didn't need to go far to feel the heat coming through. Bare in mind that the water is very hot in some parts. There were a few... 更多
Delightful soak, breath stealing slide and plunge in the cool fresh waters of Tarawera, then back for some more soaking. A selection of temperatures. Take food! And Drinks, or be prepared to pay for these. Reasonable price otherwise, and lovely experience.
Good viewing area of the lake if you do not have a boat to get to the water and beach. Just driving through the forest to see the various angles of the lake is nice.
Busy wee camp spot on Tarawera. Friendly manager to greet and inform us of local info. Small but adequate tent sites with phenomenal views of the lake and mountain. The lake was choppy, but the water still beautiful and warm. Will stay again when the next step of the Tarawera trail is open
Hot Water Beach is a popular place for boaties during the warmer months. As there is no vehicle access to the beach. You can walk/hike in but it is quite a walk. Nice clean water, that is warm even very hot if you bury your feet in the sand. Very good if you get cooler in the water just sit... 更多
This is a must see, completely amazing that hot water can bubble up through the sand, it's so hot it will burn your feet! The beach is beautiful, if a little crowded in the area of the hot spring, but everyone was very friendly and all joining in the experience.
We went walking in the area and thoroughly enjoyed that. There is so much to view and soak in. A good view of Mt Tarawera. Another beautiful spot in a beautiful country. Lovely warm water.
When visiting the Blue and Green Lakes out of Rotorua, it's worth driving the few extra km to the edge of Lake Tarawera. A couple of km past the Buried Village attraction, take a right towards Tarawera Landing to find a picturesque little beach complete with boat ramp, jetty, toilets/changing rooms and cafe. Really cool vibe, not overcrowded and a... 更多
