If you don't mind the hour drive from Broome, most of it on an unmade road, this is a really interesting place to visit, limited access to some parts of town as this is an Aboriginal Community, but this well worth the visit
A must see for visitors to the Peninsula. This church is absolutely not to be missed. The alter has inlaid pearl shells and was built by the missionaries. It takes your breath away when you appreciate what life was like in this community and the amount of hard work that went into building the church.
This is such an amazing church in the middle of nowhere with an incredible blend between Catholicism and indigenous culture reflected in the crucifix and the pearl shell inlayed floor in front of the altar. Father Hillary was so generous and welcoming with his time. This really is worth trying to get to.
Awesome in the true definition of the word. Walking into this church we were totally in awe of this truly beautiful sanctuary. Everywhere you look is evidence of the dedication, devotion and hard work to create this wonderful celebration of the love of God. There are not enough words in the language to describe the beauty and spirituality of this... 更多
Visited this as part of a tour north to Cape Leveque. The work with the shells is amazing throughout. A must see attraction.
After more than an hour of bone jarring 4WD up the Cape Road we got to Beagle Bay where it was time for a 'pit stop' and a cuppa. The tour we were on provided that however there is a bakery and coffee available there for those not on tour. Centrepiece of this town is the Sacred Heart Church with... 更多
We stopped by for a quick visit on our way to the Kimberley. The attraction is the all pearly shell tiles throughout the church's interior. A priest had recruited native Australians to decorate the church thus. It is a functioning church serving the community. Our tour guide had made a donation on our behalf.
The exquisite altar areas of this church decorated with pearl shell are a true sight to behold. Anyone travelling up to Cape Leveque should take a stop here.
Amazing little old church , my husband sang part of the Mass in Latin and the sound was incredible, this surprised the other visitors to the Church who really enjoyed his singing
