Visited Manton dam recreational area as I heard it was good for a picnic & swim. I agreed it's a nice picnic location, but doubt for a swim as its not safe enough. There was a tiny piece of paper hang outside the gate of dam indicating there was a Saltie croc. Not the best way to give caution sign.
If you want to take some beautiful Photography this is the place to be. It's a nice place to relax! There is a lot of Birdlife happening. It's a nice place to have a BBQ but you have to bring everything your self as there is no Shops there.
Go packed prepared if you're going to go here. Take your portable bbq, fluids and good walking shoes and good bathers. Locals do swim here (although I wouldn't because crocs are everywhere and crocs walk very easily over land). There are interesting history placques on here that really only show half the story, with a majorly overlooking of what happens...
Went for a day trip and thought it would be an open area with views of the lake (should have checked here).
It's run down and only suitable for those with boats / ski's / kayak ect.
Picnic area is poor to very poor and overrun with scrub. The walkways are overgrown and the footbridge is busted.
