I am sad that I missed this as it was closed over the weekends. What a shame. I understand it is run by volunteers but was very disappointed to have missed it
The hospital/house museum documents Rev John Flynn vision to provide medical services to remote communities. Adelaide house staffed by two nurses was it was the regions only hospital until 1939. It was a unique design and has an excellent natural cooling system. enjoy morning tea at the end of your visit.
Volunteer host was pleasant and informative. Excellent displays of early medicine with many historic photos. Well worth the $5 donation.
This house has a great over view of the history of Alice Springs as well as having some rooms in their original state. Lovely and cool inside. Helpful staff.
For only $5pp entry. You get to go back in time and gain a slight insight as to what life was like before Alice was Alice. However more importantly the characters of those who braved the climate and lack of infrastructure and offered medical care to those in and beyond the immediate area.
