Architecture tours of Sydney.

The Sydney Architecture Walks explore ideas through architecture offering an interface between architecture and the wider community. Each route is driven by certain themes and ideas and attempts to decode the city whilst stimulating new ways of thinking about and seeing Sydney. On bike and on foot we trespass joyfully across disciplines and genres as we seek out the projects that respond to the culture, history and environment of Sydney and not just imported formulaic codes.

I've been on three of these walks and I've learned so much about my home city! The tour guide gave me really in-depth and yet broad information, so I have a much better understanding of why the city is how it is. The style is casual and friendly. Brilliant!

I think this trip is very suitable to those who are very interested in Sydney contemporary architecture as well as architectural students or architects who want to know about Sydney better. Eoghan is very knowledgable and his explanation is very vivid. He is very kind to answer us all kinds of questions. I will take another walk someday.

A remarkable telling of the Sydney Opera House story: the rare competition and the rescued sketch that won it, the architectural inspiration, the language of the building and the engineering challenge, the prototypes and details, the dramatic sequence of the building's spaces, the Picasso mural that almost was, the finishes and interiors that might have been, the provincial politics that... 更多

Eoghan Lewis combines history, aesthetics and good yarns to weave a multi layered impression of some of the key buildings of Sydney and how they underlie the fabric of the city. My city was illuminated and I learnt more in 2 hours than I knew previously. I thoroughly recommend this tour for locals and overseas visitors alike.

Eoghan is an inspirational and engaging speaker - able to communicate his passion for architecture and the social, cultural, and environmental history of the city he so obviously loves. Utzon's Sydney Opera House design is an underlying thread of the Tour and it is impossible to come away without sharing Eoghan's respect for this beautiful building. I can't imagine a... 更多

On Wednesday (10 February) we joined the two and a half hour SAW3 Harbourings walking tour which covered the Circular Quay area, the Rocks and Walsh Bay. This tour is not a dry discussion about the architectural characteristics of buildings in the various areas. Instead it concentrates on the cultural, historical, geographical and political elements around the time when these... 更多

We went on the SAW1 city walk yesterday and loved it! It was so informative, interactive and full of details. You can feel the passion of these guys for urban design. Sydney looks so different now to me.

This was really interesting. It was a very thorough explanantion about Jorn Utzon and the Opra House. It covered all sorts of things, the history of the opera house project, the history and chronology of Jorn Utzon and what may happen in the future. It went for 3 hours so bring plenty of water and maybe a snack to eat... 更多

We were on the SAW1 tour the morning of the tornado. Luckily it did not hit the CBD. Despite the wet and wind we had a fascinating tour of a wide variety of buildings. Don't think of this as a way to see the usual tourist spots like the Opera house. Do that another time. You will see and discuss... 更多
