Stopped here (as well as many other tourist trap locations) as part of our Elephant orphanage/Kandy/tooth temple tour. Firstly, the tour round the garden took around 15 minutes. It involved mainly looking at different trees and roots, whilst having the associated herbs, spices and fruits shoved under our noses to smell. We were also brought a cup of "natural cocoa... 更多
As mat people here have said....this is a front to sell various concoctions at vastly inflated prices. We spent too much simply because we felt obliged. Be warned and don't even go in.
Very very expensive place to buy from unless you're a billionaire. all the staff really seem interested in is selling to you at extortionate prices. see the review title.
I went on this Groupon trip arranged by Sri Lankan Tours, it was amazing, except for the visit to the New Paradise Spice Garden. It was quite a disappointment. We were rushed through a garden of plants and trees that have amazing benefits for us. We finally arrived to an enclosure, where there were displays of products that are apparently... 更多
A complete rip off . The garden is small and just a route to the demonstration of their products and the if sell . The guide chose goods for us at pace some of which we did not want and certainly not I such huge quantities . We returned good with ease and staff were polite and apologetic . An... 更多
This is incorporated into most little private tours as I'm almost certain tour guides get a cup of the extortionate prices we are expected to pay at the end of a it pathetic "tour" (sales pitch) through a little garden scattered with some shrubs, trees and plants. Honestly the worst experience we encountered in Sri Lanka, they say it's free... 更多
Our freelance tour guide genuinely thought that this is the kind of place that foreigners would find interesting. And it was, and sometimes very funny (not intentionally), especially when our guide there sat us down and started man handling my boyfriend to demonstrate the benefits of many of the creams/potions they had on sale there. He had depilatory cream rubbed... 更多
This place was "advised" to us by our driver (like many other places), we figured it would be interesting. As far as the plants and knowledge of the guide goes it's allright. But the massage and shop are a rip off, we ended up bargaining for a small souvenir and paid 2000 rupee for everything (tour, massage and souvenir). Not... 更多
To say it was memorable is an understatement - but not the good kind. This seemingly friendly guy proceeded to hastily walk us through the garden, showing us a variety of herb and spice trees - "vanilla - smell this. cinnamon - smell this. Aloe - smell, feel it". He threw every type of smell under our noses until he... 更多
We were told we were going to a cookery lesson 2 hours. Guide left us. Shown round a garden. Then shown a few pre prepped veg. A packet of powdered spice. A man cooked it in 2 mins asked if we wanted to taste. A spoonful each. That's it done. Then taken to a room where my husband got a... 更多
