You don't really have to be quiet in the gift shop. The clerk/brother invited us in warmly and gladly answered any questions about the inventory. In addition to "holy granola," fruitcake, and the usual gift items, there was honey, honey infused with lemon, honey infused with anise, and the most wonderful date cake. Samples were available. There were numerous pull-outs... 更多
We just drive up on our way down PCH. The drive is perilous but the views are amazing. We were able to go into the chapel. Really wanted to buy something at the bookstore, but after the woman working in the bookstore made us wait 30 minutes after it was supposed to open just to tell us we couldn't buy... 更多
This is a hidden gem, literally, it is tucked away high above the cloud in the mountains. I arrived by bike, it took me nearly an hour and a half to walk the bike all the way up. The walk itself was a pilgrimage, by the time I arrived, I felt I could leave already. I spent some time meditating... 更多
So, I've driven the Coast a zillion times and never stopped here. My wife sees the sign and up the hill we go. The location is to die for; however, the best thing about the place is these monks take vows of silence and they ask you to be quiet while you are there. My wife was quiet for a... 更多
This is not a place for a drive through visit. The driveway is very long, winding and steep. From the moment I got out of the car I felt the peacefulness. The bookstore and chapel are he only areas open to the public. The bookstore offers a very large selection of spiritual material. If you're going to drive up to... 更多

First, the driveway - 2 miles long, straight up, from Hwy 1 with breathtaking views along the way. Along the way, you can stop and park, sit on a bench and just enjoy the view. Up top, there is not a... 更多
We had no idea what to expect but the innkeeper at Lucia Lodge suggested we take the drive up to the Hermitage. The views are incredible and it's a very peaceful place. We visited the gift shop and picked up some gifts then took our time winding our way back down and snapping pictures.
This is a 2 mile road leading up to an active hermitage. The road is narrow and steep and offers great views of the Pacific coast. There is a very pleasant 1 mile loop trail located at a pull off.
