The Eastern Orthodox Cozia Monastery was erected between 1387-1392. It is the most visited monastery in Romania and has some of the richest history. It is certainly worth having a look at it if you are travelling through that area.
A nice church, monastery actually with great history. Great location, it also have a small museum with holy stuff. Always to return when you need time for yourself, or just to see a very nice monastery.
I really enjoyed this tranquil and scenic monastery - it's so different to anything we are used to in the UK. You walk in for free as you should, unlike many places in the UK. The Romanian locals are so hospitable and helpful but at the same time you are able to relax without being bothered. When we went is... 更多
If, by any chance, you are traveling by car and drive from Sibiu to Bucharest, via Pitesti, then you'll pass by Cozia Monastery. The Monastery is situated between the River Olt and the National road E81. There is no detour, you have access from the E81. There are no charges to visit or for parking.
On the road from Sibiu to Bucharest just before the spas take over the road. Frescos are beautiful and chapel is covered in frescos. The white monastery building around the chapel is worth the view too. There are still monks living there. Go through the old kitchen to catch a glimpse of the river! Enjoy the flowers and the silent... 更多
Next to main road Râmnicu Vâlcea to Sibiu. Easy access. Good driving break-up. Good food and beding around. Fabulous views. Medieval history and architecture. Woods, hills and mountains trails around, accessible including for biking.
Very old monastery near Olt river in a natural setting . It was built by Mircea cel Batran famous prince of medieval time . The church has old paintings and well-preserved .
The monastery could be a more contemplative visit were it not so popular and crowded. The church is beautiful, the icons and paintings amazing, and the location is bucolic. Notwithstanding the tourist market across the street, it's a great stop on the path up/down the Carpathians and the Transylvanian Alps.
It is right near the main road, you will see a lot of parked vehicles nearby, and some merchants on the opposite part of the road. The monastery is old and it is by the bank of Olt river, worth going all around it to explore the area, sunday can get crowded but in rest it is a really nice... 更多
