The broken Moonland in Lamayuru near Leh is a place not to miss while on a trip to Leh-Ladakh. The colour of these mountains is distinctly different from the other surrounding mountains and it indeed looks as if the Moon has separated from the Earth from here! The feeling while you are here is beyond words!
Unless you really find the art and the history behind the monastery interesting visiting Lamayuru might leaving you wanting more. We took a 3 hour drive from our resort in Leh, just to spend less than 20 min at this monastery.
Unique, out of this world geographical landscape. Was there at beginning of winter and after it snowed, the landscape was totally changed as well. Also situated in the town was the oldest monastery in Lakakh, Lamayuru Monastery that is worth a visit.
