I showed up at this historic village on a solo trip not expecting too much, but was so pleasantly surprised1 The actual village is larger than I expected, with several buildings and a seasonal tea room/restaurant. I arrived first thing after they opened, and was the only visitor for about half an hour. It was a little eerie being the... 更多
This historic village was a surprise and we hadn't allowed enough time to see all of it properly as we were heading for the ferry. The buildings are well looked after, the staff very helpful and informative - those playing characters did so very well. The animals are lovely, especially the horses which were being hitched up and taken to... 更多
Well worth the stop and nominal fee. Shoulder season (Sept) but still most enjoyable. General Store Proprietor in character as well as Blacksmith/Shop and Bakery Lady/Server in the Meeting Hall. Unfortunately we had a time constraint to our visit as we were heading on to the airport. Note: Village is in its original location.
Absolute gem (100 times better than ther green gables pseudo historic extravaganza),village store, post office school, church, church hall, blacksmith forge, barn, shingle cutting workshop. All beautifully preserved and working. Excellent interpretation by staff and display boards. When we were there today a man was ploughin a field with a pair of Percheron horses and took plenty of time to... 更多
We were heading for the ferry off the island and looking for somewhere to have a coffee and drove up to the visit as they had a tea shop. Imagine our surprise as we found ourselves visiting a well-presented little museum of local life. We arrived late in the day and it was clear that a lot had been going... 更多
I had read several reviews of this pioneer village which said it was small, with not much to see, but we were in the area with some spare time, and it was included in our PEI Historical Passports, so we decided to check it out on our last day on the island. First off, I was quite interested in the... 更多
Orwell is a rare historic village in that it is the actual authentic village and not a re-created space. We visited on a drizzly day and almost had the village to ourselves. My girls raced around the leafy lanes and enjoyed the school, store and animals. We took a horse drawn wagon ride around the village and chatted for a... 更多
There's a surprising amount to see at this little historic village--a museum with farm equipment, a schoolhouse, church, blacksmith, and general store. It's a fun place to spend a few hours on a nice day.
I am so happy that our hotel recommended Orwell Corner Historic Village or we may have missed it. They have a nice museum and a lovely gift shop with items made by locals. The prices at the gift shop can't be beat. I bought an item (potato bag for the microwave) at the gift shop and saw the same item... 更多
If one is interested in agricultural history the museum portion of this site may be of interest. The historic village, however is otherwise not worth making a special trip out to see. There are only 6 buildings apart from the barns, and both the church and blacksmith shop were closed when we were there (in July, not off-season). The community... 更多
