I wasn't very keen but my wife wanted to visit - biggest Surprise on our Islay visit as we got the tour and talk - it was really fascinating and very informative and relaxed - well worth seeking out and making the effort to drive; park and visit
This is a wonderful place to visit; still weaving gorgeous woolens and using a loudly clacking loom. Fabrics are beautiful--nice enough for the Queen who has visited. They have kept many of the artifacts from long ago--hand-written customer ledgers, etc.--which makes it very atmospheric, and the owner was on hand and happy to chat. A very interesting and memorable place... 更多
This place is full of character including the owner who will take great delight and show you the looms working and the very old machine he hopes to restore. Cloth woven for the aristocracy and the film industry. If you want to be up there with the hob nobs this is the place to see where there wool is woven.
We went here on a whim and enjoyed every second. We were shown how the mill worked and how the looms were all set up. A fascinating visit to a mill thats seen many years and has gone through a checkered history. A must do visit where there are many fine clothes... 更多
The site of this will and mail has been used for centuries to create beautiful and functional fabrics. The current owners have taken this to an art form over the last 35 years. There are excellent items to be purchased as well as interesting stories to be heard on a tour of the mill.
when we asked whether the mill would be open, we were told 'the owenr's a Yorkshireman - he'll be open' - and he was. he was also there to explain what he gets up to - which was rewarding as it usually is when someone who knows his business is prepared to talk about it. get him to talk about... 更多
This was our second visit. Last time we had a tour round the mill, and watched one of the old looms being worked. Amazing how such old machinery can make such wonderful quality cloth. This time we only went into the shop. I bought trousers to be hemmed to size at home - great quality. The mill is well worth... 更多
