Visited this cathedral twice. Once on a school tour and the other for a ceremony. Both were fantastic experiences and the history of the cathedral is amazing. Recommend to go on a guided tour as part of a Killlalor/ Ballina Day trip.
This is one of Ireland's oldest and most venerated Cathedrals and holy sites, just a short throw of a spear from Kincora, home of Brian Boru. I was privileged to attend a wedding here rather than just visit as a tourist so it was great to see it in real use. IT not Notre Dame but ther's just as much... 更多
One of the few intact mediaeval cathedrals in Ireland, now Anglican church of Ireland. Unlike man of their other places of worship this one is freely accessible to tourists and to those who wish to pray without the payment of an admission fee. It really is a most beautiful and atmospheric place. Don't miss the Romanesque door at the west... 更多
It was on this site that the High King of Ireland, Brian Boru entertained his royal visitors between 1002 and 1014. Great to see this on the top of the hill in Killaloe.
Visited the village and after reading the travel book, decided to visit. It was definately worth the effort. The outside of the Cathedral is quite plain, and from the pamphlet it is built in the shape of a cross. In the south transept there are some amazing historical exhibits - the romansque doorway, the ogham stone, the carved Celtic Cross... 更多
Although not attending a service - we were fortunate to attend a concert - the acoustics and ambience in this Cathedral at this event was something very special
St. Flannan's dates back to 1225, it has a vibe and atmosphere that are unique. I loved the feel of the place, it is like walking back in time. I would highly recommend a visit to anybody that is seeking to grasp an understanding of old Ireland.
When there is a concert on here, don't miss it. The seats may be hard, but you won't even notice it....Took 10 friends here and all delighted.
