Now this place bears my maiden surname and I was born in Sligo so it was always going to be interesting for me to see if there was any connection, but for the 6 & 7 year old in tow on a rainy July afternoon??? Entry is very reasonable and the children were provided with a treasure map which kept... 更多
We visited this in a summer. The castle is impressive on the outside, and probably nice inside, but it really is hit and miss as to whether its open to visitors or not. There is also a really nice covered in boat that takes you on an hour trip around the lake from the castle, but this boat does not... 更多
This is a nice castle but once you have seen a few you don't have to stop here unless you are a history and castle buff or are driving by. They are still working on the restoration so it will improve. We did see the movie which is good and probably the guided tour would afford more information which we... 更多

The history in... 更多
We arrrived just in time for an informative 50 minute tour of the castle. The tour covered the history of the castle and its inhabitants but it also dealt with vernacular architecture - local cottage styles and the construction of thatched roofs. Entrance fee was €2 instead of the usual €4 because the battlements are currently closed off for maintenance... 更多
Upon our arrival we were greeted by a friendly lady who was more than accommodating in directing us around the grounds and providing helpful information for us to make the most of our tour. It was a pleasant surprise to us that Wednesday's were free admission. The castle itself is quaint, nice location but a little disappointing that much of... 更多
Visited on Heritage Sunday so entrance was free which was an added bonus, although if we had gone at any other time the fee is only 2 euro. The staff were so friendly & helpful. The views over Lough Gill were lovely, well worth a visit.
Parker's castle is a short drive from Sligo in Co. leitrim and well worth a visit . There is a nominal entrance fee, and you have the choice of a guided or DIY tour. We chose the latter as we wanted to wander and get a feel for the place. It was originally the home of a Sir Brian O... 更多
