My husband and I stopped here on our drive from Limerick to Galway and it was definitely worth a stop. I found out about it from another person on TA and I'm so glad! It was one of the more interesting ruins we saw and we almost had the place to ourselves. We loved the spots like this that were... 更多
This site is as good as the Rock of Cashel but without the view and without the hoards of tourists you find at Cashel. Well worth a visit. There is a car park and information on the site can be obtained from the Tower View B&B across the road. Or google the history before you go. Tradition has it that... 更多
Great stop on the way to Coole Park. This is over 1000 years old and some of the building still remain, so very interesting to see. Its a quick stop, if you can find it, just park in the lot out in the field and walk inside and take a look around the buildings. There are signs explaining some of... 更多
This is a very historic location and is well worth a visit. If you are travelling the Wild Atlantic Way make sure your stop off to see this attraction.
Kilmacduagh Monastery is located about 5 km from the town of Gort and with its round tower is a must see on a visit to The Burren. The Tallest extant round tower in all of Ireland is at Kilmacduagh. and there are numerous other ruins on the site. The Office of Public Works should be ashamed of themselves for not... 更多
Actually we didn't travel to see this - we just came by and thought it looked stange - anciant churches, stones at the road - so we made a break. It showed there were several ruins and a tower out of angle - and lots of graves. The place was bigger than expected and I'd say it's so special it's... 更多
Found this site on my way from Gort to Kinvara. Was so surprised that there was hardly anyone around. The round tower is so beautiful and the entire site is very well kept. There is only a little information available so you need to read about the place in advance. I really enjoyed my visit and recommend it for photographers
There's a level at which monastery ruins all start to look alike, and I suppose you could say that about Kilmacduagh. The round tower and church ruins are pretty much what you'd see at, say, Glendalough. What's different is that the place is completely uncommercialized. We've been there four times, and we've seen only one tour bus... a group of... 更多
