Went out of our way to visit, but for a purpose. We wanted to go here to take video and drone pictures. The place is spread across several sites, with a tower structure, that can be seen from the road as you approach. Car park is just past the graveyard. There is not much to look at, unless you look... 更多
Wondered around this site with the old monastic buildings (abbey, tower, etc). It's a quick but interesting stop in the Burren. However, despite being a historical site it is still a functioning grave yard with a mix of old and recent gravestones. Would not recommend visiting on a Sunday as it may be perceived as disrespectful to mourners to be snapping... 更多
We stumbled across this monastery from 610 AD and it was fascinating. It says visit the house across the street for a guidebook (4 Euros). The lovely woman offered us the keys so we could go inside. Truly fascinating and beautiful. Still can't get over the tower!
When you stand beneath the tower its easy to picture what it must have been like back when the site was first developed this ancient monument on the edge of the burren has somthing different to offer at every visit and is a photographers paradise. Kids also love it, my own always like to imagine its Repunsels tower and the... 更多
I have stumbled across this site on both of my trips to Ireland. Very convenient to the road. Great spot for some outstanding pictures. Very nice stop on the way to the Cliffs of Moher or Aliwee caves.
My husband and I stopped here on our drive from Limerick to Galway and it was definitely worth a stop. I found out about it from another person on TA and I'm so glad! It was one of the more interesting ruins we saw and we almost had the place to ourselves. We loved the spots like this that were... 更多
This site is as good as the Rock of Cashel but without the view and without the hoards of tourists you find at Cashel. Well worth a visit. There is a car park and information on the site can be obtained from the Tower View B&B across the road. Or google the history before you go. Tradition has it that... 更多
Great stop on the way to Coole Park. This is over 1000 years old and some of the building still remain, so very interesting to see. Its a quick stop, if you can find it, just park in the lot out in the field and walk inside and take a look around the buildings. There are signs explaining some of... 更多
