A love place steeped in history. We walked around the visitors center before going on a short walk following the yellow trail. It took us 30 minuets to do the loop. Everything above this centre was good. Lovely cafe, clean toilets, excellent information centre. Great to see the Connemara ponies and to talk to the breeder. Great walk up Diamond Hill.

This wasn't on our itinerary but sure glad we stopped. It was lunch and we needed a place to sit in the fresh air for a while. The people in the center were very nice and helpful. Intriging displays made for a good visit. Only took a sbort time which was just what we wanted.
Going to Connemara, there is definitely one thing you should experience, and that is Connemara Heritage and History Centre. The owner, Martin, takes you up to the top of the hill to have a beautiful view of part of Connemara. The whole museum (inside, outside and the Dan O'Hara Farmhouse) is interesting, and provide a lot of informations about Ireland and Connemara. Martin is an excellent guide, and the shop is nice.
We found Martin (the main staff person, and driver of the tractor taking people up to the cottage) to be very informative, knowledgable and entertaining. His description of the conditions leading to mass emigration, and Ireland's political struggles was interesting.
