This was one of the sights our hotel suggested we take in as we walked into town after a day of driving. It was a wonderful walk and this bridge was a interesting find. Wow! I guess this is how they had to build them then-would they actually ride a horse over it? Seeing this bridge just reminds you how incredible and clever man is! Well worth seeking out for a photo opportunity.
Fun fact I learned visiting this tiny part of Irish history that dates to the 17th century - it has no connection with Oliver Cromwell. Easy to visit even if just passing though Kenmare.
an 11th century bridge, near the druid/stone circle, a few blocks from kenmare's town square. apparently the name was misconstrued from a name for moustache, which is what the bridge might look like. tucked away by itself near a stream. only takes few minutes to find.
Just a short walk from the centre of Kenmare, you'll find this idyllic setting, with an old stone bridge arcing over Kenmare river. Worth a quick trip as it only takes 5 minutes to get there from town. There's not a whole lot to see apart from admiring the staying power of this little stone bridge and the skill of its builders.
It's still very solid. If you stop in Kenmare, definitely worth a visit! The walk is scenic and there's a little trail behind it.
