This is called the Stonehenge of the North. But, it is on a private farm. There are only a few plaques with not much information on them. Nothing about what was found there or why. There are numerous other burial mounds visible on the surrounding hills. Probably worth a visit as the fee is only £1 per adult, but no... 更多
Nice place for a quick visit and walk. You park just outside a farm and walk past the farmhouse and towards the fields. There is a little box by a sign asking for £1 per adult. The henge was deserted apart for us so the kids had a great time running up, down and around the place. Nice view from... 更多
There is a small car park up the driveway to leave your car but space is limited to about six cars. Then it is a shortish walk up the hill to the site. On the way you are asked to place £1 per adult (children free) in an honesty box for your visit. The day we visited the lady came... 更多

The circular mound and ditch and the circle of stones, on a hilltop with views for miles, gives a sense of history going back to those who would have gathered in the same spot thousands of years ago. A steep walk, and then a quiet and a view that seems timeless.
You need a car, or like hiking to visit Arbor Low. Once nearby you park in a small car park where you put £1 in a pot before heading through a farmyard. Then you cross a cow field to get to the stone circle which is in another field that is grazed by sheep, who will totally ignore you! Before... 更多
A fascinating place place to visit in the middle of a working farm. If you like looking at ancient monuments then this is the place for you.
This is not the most obvious place to visit or find. But it does show that Stonehenge is not the only stone circle around. It is definitely worth a visit but be prepare to walk around the cows and sheep
