Very small museum. Gentleman in the museum was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. Really will only take 30 minutes to look around one room.
The air conditioning was a bit fierce when we visited the museum and the cold meant we did not linger over the exhibits although they were deserving of more time. This remaining part of a much larger building had been a school during Oliver Cromwell’s childhood. (Samuel Pepys had also studied here). There are some interesting exhibits of Cromwell memorabilia... 更多
It's free but with limited opening hours. The Huntingdonshire District Council have correctly decided to keep this fantastic little treasure open. Thanks to the volunteers that have enabled that. It really is a fascinating little museum. Children friendly and very informative.
We remembered that Oliver Cromwell spent his youth in Huntingdon and decided to see this museum. We were not expecting a great deal but were pleasantly surprised. The museum had some artefacts which actually belonged to Cromwell himself including his amazingly wide brimmed black felt hat and various beautifully hand crafted items of the period. Although it might be very small it was really interesting to learn about Oliver Cromwell live and the English civil war. Having been going to Huntingdon for the past five and half years I have finally visited it and it is certainly opened my mind to how history was shaped by him.
This museum is small, but full of artifacts, very well laid out and supplied. Entrance is free. Good for families with small to teen children.
It's free and small but well worth a visit. The guide was really helpful and happy to answer questions. I have lived in Huntingdon for most of my life and when back visiting parents I always pop in.
Cromwell Museum is a hidden gem. Contains personal possessions of the Protector and his family together with many unique documents letters and books. Staff very well-informed. I spent 2 hours here - even though it was a bit chilly! they have clothes/helmets etc for children to try on and an excellent resource book for teachers.
Right in the middle of town, have to find a good place to park. Its a small museum but still very interesting. The curator was extremely knowledgeable. If you have a few minutes and happen to be in Huntingdon, give it a look.
