Apparently the largest castle remaining in Europe! Occupied 3 children (aged 8 - 15) for a good couple of hours. Helped by free headphone accompaniment! Vies amazing from the top towers. Highly recommended.
In addition to being enormous and really interesting there is an excelled "Aire" for motor homes opposite together with a flooded quarry and woodland walks
Great palce to visit, just a typical French Castle, what more to say? Go and look... The French have this habit of not destroying their heritage, there seems no need to cover their history with new estates and developments. This Castle takes the visitor back in time and one can visualise life as it was. How society was structured and... 更多
We walked around the exterior and had lunch al fresco across the road. Sadly we did not have time to wait for an interior tour, but resolve to do do this next time. It is said to be one of the largest medieval chateaux in Europe. It is extremely well preserved and / or restored, and looks like an excellent... 更多
Learn about the 100 years war, eat at the bistros near the entrance, walk along the wall surrounding the site and enjoy the marvellous views of the surroundings.
We made a short trip to Fougeres whilst staying in Rennes for a few days with our friends. This a lovely small town with the chateau being the highlight and extremely well preserved given the history. The audio guide is very informative and the chateau is spacious enough to enjoy a wander around for an hour or so. There are... 更多
Visited on a recent family holiday. After parking in the town high above the castle we walked through the town, tourist office, church and the gardens down the castle. Entrance fee was reasonable (~€25 for a family of four) and audio guides were free. The guides themselves were informative and available in multiple languages. The castle itself is in fantastic... 更多
A good site to visit. Spend at least an hour walking the site. Take in the views from the towers and walls. The free audio guide is helpful in learning some of the history, but do yourself a favour and read as much as you can about the history of Brittany, Normandy and people who inhabited this fortification for the... 更多
Worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood. Do not take a guided tour or you become crazy from the guide. Take an audio phone and do it on your own.
