This Roman House was built early in the first millennium, the Spoleto home (domus) of a person of significant means during the Roman Empire. It was built over in later centuries, but later archaeologically discovered to the degree you see it today. There are good descriptions of the house in English and you can easily see the different rooms on... 更多
This is an interesting start to explore the Roman history i the area, but there really isn't much to see. But it's cheap, and cool inside, and has a nice enough gift shop.
Such a disappointment to see art displayed in this Roman villa. Paintings which were not even in keeping with the villa leaning on walls throughout the villa and totally distracting us from the beautiful mosaics. Is this a great example of a Roman villa or an art gallery?
Fascinating, though a little confusing in places. This is the remains of a Roman house from 1st century. I find many Roman museums repetitive, but this one is well worth a visit.
Fascinating, if confusing at time, remains of a Roman house under street level. Could do with better information signage and Spoleto's archaeological museum is far more informative. Possibly not recommended for claustrophobics - certainly not when parties of Italian schoolchildren are running around. (Which is often!)
This is a fascinating look into a Roman house. The mosaic floors and partial frescoes are in incredible shape considering how old it is. Really amazing.
Casa Romana is located in the historical centre of Spoleto, it was discovered in 1885 and excavation and restoration of the building was begun and is still ongoing. This casa is believed to have been built at the beginning of the 1st century AD. Entrance to the house is by a small fee or included on the Spoleto Card. As... 更多
It is incredible to think that this house was built in the heart of Spoleto so many centuries ago. The house has been beautifully "uncovered" and it is possible to imagine a family living there. The explanations are very clear and the property is fascinating. It is hard to imagine the work that went into it's construction, especially the intricate,... 更多
We've been here six times just to have the privilege of entering an ancient reminder of the glories of Italy, and the art that infused everyday life then. The mosaic floors are amazingly contemporary, the craftsmanship exquisite, the frescoed walls proof that beauty is a necessary component to our daily lives even now. The staff is friendly every time, and... 更多
What you can see is interesting, and beautiful in the arrangements of the floors, unfortunately not much is left although excavation and restoration works are still underway and more could be unearthed. The structure of the house is clear, and together with the decorations of the floors provides glimpses about the social level of the owner. Interestingly the house was... 更多
