Walking from the train station into town, this castle in on the way. A UNESCO site, it is free to come in. The ramparts offer a stunning view across Prato. Well worth the time.
We arrived at the fortress excited to see what was inside such a commanding structure - you can see it from a distance and we were looking forward to our visit. If you are in Prato a visit to castle is a must- it has great views out over the city and the surrounding hills. The light at dusk would be great for taking photos- we were there at midday so was also a good photo time
This provide a stunning 360 view of Tuscany from the top. I love looking at different clousters of the many churches around Prato. Climbing up and down could be tricky for the frails as the stairs are uneven and steep. Wheelchair access was there but wasn't working, sadly.

This is one of the most ancient castle in italy. It was built for emperor Federico and is a symbol for Prato. Is located in the same place of the church of Santa Maria delle Carceri, another mileston of the treasures of Prato.
Visited here last week and we were amazed how beautiful a condition this Castle is in. Great position in the centre of Prato and so much to see and do here without crowds of people.
