This is a good way to see something of the older history of the area. It is free so you do not need to worry about skipping bits you are not interested in. The museum tells the story of the area from prehistoric on. There are some English story boards which are well worth reading. Most captions are in Italian,... 更多
Mixed feelings about this museum. The layout is good but the lack of English translations is really frustrating. The museum is free but I would have willingly paid an entrance fee if I was provided with an English audio guide or even a written translation, which much smaller museums in Lecce freely provide. That said the collection of pottery is... 更多
On three floors all accessible, the displays are well laid out with information in English. Some good reconstructions that make understanding the artifacts easier
This was a nice museum, small but with a considerable collection of funeral pottery and some artifacts of interest. Everything is written in Italian so best to expect that in advance. Two very friendly attendants. We gave this museum a thumbs up because it was the first we found that was actually open. So many museums throughout Italy don't keep... 更多
While spending a vacation in Lecce, we decided to visit this museum one day. It is just outside the old city walls by the police station. It is open on Sunday, and manned by two helpful attendants, who insisted we talk the elevator rather than the stairs. On this Sunday, we were the only visitors, and we had their complete... 更多
Interesting museum (free) but could use some maintenance - many exhibits' lights were out. That said, the collection is huge ranging from neolithic to Roman times. Some, but not all exhibits had information in English. Worth a visit.
We had planned a short visit but a heavy rain shower meant that we went back into the museum and were surprised to discover further delights - such as a chapel. We were even graciously allowed to see rooms that were originally closed for that day. From the ancient statues and figurines (I loved the 200 BC one of a... 更多
Well, the museum itself it is not very attractive and not easy to find. Unfortunately philosophy of the exhibition is not well done. Museum keepers must show you where to go and even then you can miss some spots. Nevertheless the collection of ancient pottery is remarkable and worth the visit!
clearly this is an important museum and there is a fascinating amount of interesting historical objects on display. But the neglect. WOW. the dirt stained carpet everywhere is an indication. the grounds outside are quite disgusting for lack of care and there is virtually noi signage. As though people have their jobs and don't care if they have no visitors.... 更多
An impressive collection of vases, ceramics, religious art and other artefacts is well presented as the ascending walkway guides you through centuries of history. Whatever your archaeological leanings, you should discover a handful of pieces, which especially take your interest and capture your imagination.
