Very interesting place lots of history,The place really takes you back to the bad old days,I would also recommend a trip on the canal on the kitty wake canal barge they also tell you about the history of the link between the canal and the mill.
Last went to Trencherfield Mill many moons ago and decided to go again withg my nine year old daughter. She was fascinated with the Mill and the demonstrations therein. to get a real impression of the sheer size of this engine you need to stand near it it is HUGE and when any documentaries are done by t/v stations such as when Tony Robinson (of time team) did a walk passing through the town he never went to see it same with Michael Portilo on his rail journeys never... 更多
In the ninetys I worked on the mill I was a jcb driver I installed the big steam engine which l have taken my grandchildren to see a fey times great day out lots of history
Love seeing what life was like in the olden days. When the wheel is working and all the machines are going it really gives you a sense of what the workers had to deal with on a daily basis and the perils they faced. So interesting and the staff will answer any of your questions.
I actually used to live in the apartments above!! As an engineer, this is a must see but also good for everyone. Very knowledgeable engineer there will answer all your questions. Worlds largest working steam engine. AWESOME!!!!
If the youngsters are appreciative of the past mills or your also simply curious this is an ideal location to learn more about the engine that drived the cotton mill.
