We visited this toy shop when we visited Callander last year and when you step over the threshold it really does send you back in the day when things were a lot simpler and we didnt have a care in the world as kids.
From the street it doesn't look special. But inside, it's a wonderful return to childhood ! The collection is very complete ! There are a lots of old toys, everybody will find something known !
This place was mentioned in our hotel directory as a place to visit and from the outside it looks nothing and you could walk past it. On entering the shop yo are totally taken back by all the figurines surrounding you. The price to go into the museum is £3 which is a bargain and could defo charge more and... 更多
This really is a wonderful collection of toys and books from around the 1940s to date. While everything on display seems a bit cramped, no doubt it is done to show as much as the collection as possible. A great rainy day activity but also a good sunny day activity as well.
Toys are everything to all of us and it isn't surprising that so many folk reminisce about what where and when and I wish etc when visiting this family's eulogy to the place toys have in everyone's lives. There are new generations involved here now but still family. As we age we possibly (unless we have children) stay in the... 更多
Stumbled across this museum, and what a wonderful find! Two floors of neatly arranged (but somehow still delightfully higgledy-piggledy) toys spanning nearly 200 years: from Dinky cars to Matchbox, Sindy to Beatles paraphernalia, Thunderbirds to Meccano, Enid Blyton to puppets, trains to Robertsons Jam badges. Wholeheartedly recommended!
For £3 entrance fee for adults and £1 for children it's well worth the money. You can wander at leisure and relive bits of your childhood in every room. Every floor has toys in every nook and cranny and just when you think you've seen it all something else catches your eye. You make what you will from your visit...you... 更多
Visited on 29/7/16, 2 adults and 1 child. The price for entry was £3 per adult and £1 per child. As adults it was nice to see some old toys from our childhood, but as some have said a lot of the displays are extremely crowded and it can be difficult at times to see everything. Our little one showed... 更多
I have visited twice with my family. The shop is good and well priced. My children managed to find some toys they were very happy with. The museum is fun for all age groups. It is a pleasant nostalgic trip and very unique. I would recommend a visit.
You would hardly credit it that Callander is home to such a wonderful collection of toys. While the somewhat cluttered looking collection might not be as well displayed as the toys in the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh it is surely much more relevant to the average visitor that it gets today. I say this as the Museum of Childhood's... 更多
