My wife and I enjoyed a very informative and enjoyable tour of the mine works. Very uncommercialised which made for a really refreshing change. If you are in the area really worth a look. Easy to drive past so watch out
What a fantastic experience we had today visiting Hopewell Colliery. The highlight being our guide Rich, who was brilliant with our two very talkative and very enthusiastic boys! It was fascinating to hear about the mining process and to see the conditions people have mined in for centuries. Our two boys absolutely loved it and both said how much fun... 更多
We drove past this little gem a couple of times before stopping and going in to enquire about a tour. They couldn't have been more helpful! Like a previous reviewer I'm not 100% nimble on my feet anymore but they were happy to show me exactly what I was in for! Fascinating to see and hear all about free-mining in... 更多
A wonderful experience made all the better by a very knowledgeable guide. We were lucky to find this little gem we had driven past twice but it looked closed and we didnt stop but third time lucky and WOW I am so glad we did.A++++
Loved every minute of this trip, with the fantastic input from the extremely knowledgable Ray. Meant a great deal to me as some of my ancestors worked in the coal and tin mines in the Forest of Dean. Amazing value for money and a true highlight for us. If you are in the area then pay a visit - you... 更多
Great guide very informative, I even managed the tour although I walk with 2 sticks. They even let me look at the entrance so I could assess for my self as the entrance was quite a steep slope. 1st class in every way.
Randomly came across this place and it was one of the best parts of our holiday. A true eye opener the history and ongoing future of free mining. The tour was great fun and educational. Definitely going back there again!
This was a highlight of our recent trip to the Forest of Dean - Rich is an amazing guide; he's so friendly and personable and really makes the tour interesting and thought provoking. He actively encourages questions so that you really engage with what you're seeing, which makes it even better. As a free miner himself, the tour offers a... 更多
What a fantastic experience. My son and I had no intention of visiting, we was on our way home from "go ape" which is minutes away, and happened to see a small sign into the colliery. It's easy to miss actually, sadly the place was almost deserted but we was greeted by a very friendly woman who invited us in.... 更多
Rich was a fantastic guide. It was a unique tour as he is talking from first hand experience. I didn't know about free miners before & their history in the Forest of Dean. The children really enjoyed walking down into the mine with just headlamps for lighting. He is very engaging for all ages.
