Sadly unrecognised ever as a significant place by local councils, there is a meagre ground plaque under the shadow of a massive wind turbine surrounded by industrial units. I'm an ashamed local.
It has taken me a while to write this review as it is/was a very emotional time for me, you see very kindly the RNLI scattered my brothers ashes off Ness Point. My brother was a submariner and his last wishes were that his ashes be scattered at sea, the RNLI brought the lifeboat around Ness Point and scattered his... 更多
This is England's most easterly point , not much there other than a few signs but much atmosphere and if in the area well worth a quick visit , it does of course have excellent sea views and is very spectacular on a stormy night ! follow brown signs from Battery Green Road , if you feel like being England's... 更多
I will be honest and admit that I did not have the same sense of achievement as reaching the other cardinal points in Britain. Its a short stroll from town, down Gas Works Lane, through an industrial estate, and there is not a great deal to see when you arrive. The installation in the ground shows distances to various places,... 更多
It's a fascinating idea being on the most easterly point in England, but it is way behind extensive industrial complexes and makes for a grim journey only to find a concrete shabby place where there's really nothing but a circle indicating this point. One could surely ask: what's the point? Whilst interesting, this is so not as it should be.... 更多
Not much to say really. It's a spot on the ground marking the UK's most easterly point. It' no more exciting that the most easterly post office or most easterly car park.
Yes, lots of people have said Ness Point is no Lizard Point or Lands End or Dunnet Head. Yes it's got an unsightly industrial facility behind it. Yes more could be made of it. But walk out there an turn your face to the sea, you are surrounded by nature. Obscure from your mind what's behind you and I rather... 更多
Being the most easterly point in the country you would like to think that it would be as recognisable as the North, South and Western points in the country!? However it is a lovely location to make your family, educate your children on the different locations marked on the large plaque on the ground. I missed opportunity for WDC to... 更多
As befitting the UK's most eagerly point this is a great vantage point to watch the sun rise but don't make the 180 degree turn, walk north instead otherwise your lasting memory will be of an industrial wasteland. If you wanted a classic example of failing to plan to exploit a location's natural beauty this is it! Congratulations Waveney District... 更多
Hard to review this as it is just not a tourist attraction at all - I like that about it. It is sited behind some factories on the sea defences with no facilities at all. There is a huge compass ring on the concrete floor indicating distances from there to other locations around the world - I like that sort... 更多
