Saw by chance that there was an open day for this iconic Ipswich Building. Worth the hour spent to see the redundant indoor swimming pool and the tour gave a really good insight into the can's and cant's of this 20th Century listed building.
I was very lucky to have worked in this building for a few years as a contractor. From an architectural perspective, it has to be a must see. They have now de-tinted the bottom floor glazing so you can see right into the guts of the building.
A modern building which has many interesting features including a roof garden and a swimming pool which can be viewed despite a false floor, this was originally built for the workers, but is no longer in use. If you can visit when the building is opened to the public on Heritage Weekend preferably when a Guide is available, you won't... 更多
Impressive modern building. Nice contrast to most of the old style buildings in Ipswich. Looks like a place you would really like to work in. Who knows one day I might!
The Willis building is a five minute walk from the station and was designed by Norman Foster the world famous architect. It once had a swimming pool for the staff which is still situated under the ground floor as due to its listing it was not allowed to be filled i. It has a roof garden. A wonderful example of... 更多

For 40 years I have passed this building on an almost daily basis, marvelling at its black glass structure, how it reflects it's surroundings under certain daylight conditions, and how it delights the eye at night, with the interior lit... 更多
If this is open on heritage open weekends, it is definitely worth a visit. Grand entrance, reminiscent of a shopping mall, with open plan office space on 3 floors and a floor over what used to be the subterranean swimming pool. Tours were being taken round every 10 minutes - to see the old swimming pool area (still visible through... 更多
An amazing building by all standards, as it was built in the 70's and is now a listed building. The view from the top is outstanding, you can see most of ipswich and its many church spires. The restaurant was cooking bacon rolls and other food and lunches later in the day. Well worth a visit to walk round such an... 更多
I remember this building being built about 45 years ago, and it was then the talk of the town as it was so revolutionary. It is made completely of glass on the outside with a roof top garden enabling staff who work there, to have amazing roof top views across the town. It must have been the youngest building to... 更多
