It's an amazing place. If you like saint francis of assisi then you must not miss this site. See the robe francis wore when he received the stigmata. Pray on the spot that francis received the stigmata. The grounds are beautiful. There's a restaurant and a bar. It's free to enter also. Beautiful views. I'll tell all my Franciscan friends... 更多
A must see in this area. Slightly hairy ascent in the car; beware coaches descending round the hairpin bends! Well worth the drive. An incredible, peaceful and spiritual site. Beautiful basilica with amazing ancient wall ceramics; the corridor fresco stories are fascinating and very impressive. All in an amazing forest setting.
First of all if you visit La Verna watch out for the cost of the parking. It is very expensive. Besides this detail the place is really beautiful. If you are there by 3pm there is the sacred ceremony. It was also hold in the forest above the sanctuary. Come with some comfortable sport shoes to climb up to Monte... 更多
Whilst visiting La Verna you are immediately enveloped with a sense of peace. The walk through the forest up the hill to Santuario Francescano makes you feel different. Thinking about the journey St Francis made to this wonderful place, you could understand how he knew he was safe here. The illustrations along the corridor leading to the Chapel of the... 更多
We stayed overnight in the dormitory. Hot shower was appreciated after a full days walk. Amazing to be able to spend time in this quiet sanctuary after being on the pilgrims trail for a week. Sharing the night time meal with a table of nuns in the small room to the side of the main dining hall was a highlight.... 更多
Well worth the walk up from the village. Spectacular location with fine views over the surrounding countryside. Many good forest walks nearby. You don't have to be a devotee of St Francis to appreciate this place!
Italian friends took me to La Verna. I had no idea where we were going and what to expect. We were able to attend Mass (not something I do often, but it was nice to hear it in Italian). We walked the beautiful peaceful grounds. Explored. Felt the great energy up in the hills and woods. It was a lovely... 更多
I visited the monastery on a Friday the history and views are absolutely amazing. Even though the restaurant had limited types of food it was excellent. I would recommend visit here.
Silence of the remote countryside, breathtaking panoramas, places that once inspired St. Francis... all this justifies the special affection of the visitors. Open daily from 6:30am until sunset. Masses are held several times a day. A visit here can be truly inspirational!
Besides being a truly religious and cultural central point in Tuscany/Umbria, the monastery - with nearly twenty active San Francesco brethren - operates a lodging management which can't be bescrived as other than a hotel business. Based on the beliefs of "no profit" it is, for the visitor, very cheap and includes options to stay at the convent in a... 更多
