This is supposed to be a modern art museum but there were rooms which looked like a designer from IKEA had been robbed. Either minimalist stuff with no explanation, or ridiculous stuff that very few people would truly be interested in. We had the Reykjavik Pass. If I had paid for this, I would have been devastated. Appreciate the eclectic talents of local artist and more when you go to the art museum. The talent was amazing and endless. I found myself not only enjoying the art but finding this to talk to others about. ( whether they spoke English or not)
I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the eclectic exhibits at this location... everything from a garden of hand-woven flowers, to mosaics of Icelandic sea shells and coral, to a sculpture of goose heads, to a "dancing" pine tree, to collages, to an abundance of wonderful, weird and sometimes wild paintings (which were my favorite...
We likely wouldn't have stopped here except we had purchased the welcome card (and itt was one of the museums included on the card) and it started raining while we were walking by. It was a pleasant surprise with some really interesting displays. Glad we came.
Contemporary art museum in a very interesting modernist building (great exhibition space). Not too big, but the exhibits very interesting and well prepared, both choice of pieces of art and descriptions for them.
