We stumbled upon the city library while walking around the area. I enjoyed walking around and checking out the fiction collections and my wife and I actually found some great books and souvenirs for family members.
I was looking for the photography museum when I happened upon the Reykjavik City Library. There happen to be an exhibition of photograph from a local photographer on the 6th floor. Super friendly and accommodating staff! Loads of history in a comfortable setting. FREE Photography Museum on premise...definitely worth a visit!
We visited the museum of photography here, and we saw the exhibition “mood”. The pictures seemed to be a bit sparsely spread out, and some of them seemed quite ordinary. There were some old pictures in the stair well which made the climb to the top a little more bearable! The wifi was a nice plus.
If you did not bring your electronic devices there are three computers available for a small fee on the 5th floor of the library. The weather was very windy and snowy - so we popped in here for a bit of a walking break to find a fantastic photography exhibit. There are some exhibits for you to view in cabinets around the library and there are some interesting photos on the walls of the gallery just as you enter the library. Signage is in English...which is helpful.
Perfect place to go to relex read a book and let your children read and play...children can also play with costumes and all sorts of toys and games, nice and family friendly place.
If you are travelling without your computer and need access head here...it's quick and inexpensive! While there you can also check out the Reykjavik Museum of Photography located in the same building and it is free!
