this is a nice statue passed as you walk along the sea edge, which is a long and flat walk with nice scenery (and possibly a very cold wind depending on the weather). it represents a viking ship and is a nice stop on the walk into town.
The area is beautiful and the sculpture is amazing. In winter and in high aurora borealis season is a good place to see them. It is close to the city but be awared that in winter is very very cold so get the proper clothing to sit and relax while watching the mountains!
yeah, at first I figured, whatever...a metal viking long boat. Then some local guide told us it is the vessel that takes souls to the west. Very moving and it gives me chills now. It gave me chills then too but that was because it was ungodly cold and windy. Can't miss it.
