A very extensive fully serviced campsite set in the fantastic wooded Asbyrgi cliffs, a place, of legend and mystery. As ever, in Iceland, very expensive (£3 shower) but excellent facilities. The visitor centre is remarkable with must-see exhibits and of high quality. Another must-see location.
The site is great, cannot be understood based on photos, have to see it for real. It was easy to reach Asbyrgi with a normal car and as we were a bit tired from the day's previous activities, we appreciated that you could see a lot without having to walk.
This beautiful amphitheatre of rock encircles the viewer in some stunning scenery. It's breath taking...the small pond and bird life, plus small waterfall make for an inviting leisure stop. It's worth the trip to see it. Do be aware as we were caught out, the roads south from here are sometimes closed or accessible only to 4x4 so getting to... 更多
I got to visit this side of the park and also Detifoss (at least 25 km far from but it belongs to the same park). The views are so amazing, you feel like in a paradise with an wonderfull views. You can camp there. And if you get hungry there are an small market and restaurant. The food is really... 更多
My friends and I drove into the valley (rather than doing the 2-3 hour hike along the ridge) and found it to be quite lovely. You walk through a forested path looking up at the monolithic wall beyond the trees. At the end of the path you will find a small lake. At the time we went, the lake was... 更多
This is an amazing horseshoe shape canyon with the 'frog' part of the hoof print intact; very unique. We stopped by the visitor centre first (this might have had something to do with waiting for the weather to improve) but it does explain how the canyon was formed and how the 'frog' part came to be. (We had been told... 更多
It is a nice and quiet place. I enjoy the serenity of it. It is an easy walk. The lake is beautiful with ducks swimming by. Unlike most of the places in Iceland, there are trees and bushes. If you are in the area, you may like to stop by.
Stayed one night at the campsite and it was glorious. We were lucky to get good weather so being inside this massive canyon/shelter was gorgeous. The campsite is big and very well kept. There are trees and bushes around so it's easy to find a cozy place to camp in. There are big and small hikes there, we only went... 更多
There was a nice track leading to a duck pond and one leading up the side of the canyon (East track). There were a lot of bugs here so you should wear repellent but still be prepared to swat. It was an easy walk with nice views of baby ducks and other great views. Eyjan is massive, but unless hiking... 更多
