Has been kept in pretty good shape for its age. Cute little shops with some beautiful crafts and trinkets. It was too hot for us to climb to the top but we found out later it was closed that day a yway (is only open when there is a guard up there, and that service is sometimes sporadic). Trail can... 更多
It looks like it's a mile high but the walk really isn't that bad. The only problem is they close the upper town early so you cannot wait until late in the day to let it cool off. Once you pass the gate, though, the area levels off and there is plenty of exploring to do up top. Of course,... 更多
Spent a highly enjoyable couple of hours having lunch in the lower town then rambling around the whole site of Monemvasia. Took a little while to find a path to the Upper Town and from there a climb to the (closed) castle. The views were absolutely stunning and worth risking ankles! Many of the paths are very uneven and stony... 更多
We ended up going to Monemvasia instead of Kalamata due to rough seas on the Cruise we were on and I am so glad I got to see this stunning little town. Even though it was raining while we were there, it's just a place you don't forget. We explored every hook and cranny and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of... 更多
Unexpectedly, a medieval city on a rock that can not be seen with kopna.Fantastične streets and shops, bars! Everything exudes taste, antiques and smells!
Captivated by our entire Windstar cruise, we were totally blown away by the simplicity and allure of this tiny island in the Aegean. A hidden outpost, how fortunate we were to be on a smaller ship so we could make port here. Hiked to the top where the views were amazing. So so pleased we experienced this fabulous, wonderful piece... 更多
This place is one of my favorites. There is a comfortable vibe and everyone is warm and welcoming. What a view.... The craftsmen are also quite unique, make sure you visit the Olive wood craftsmen in the beginning of the entry to the city.
No matter what you have read about Monemvasia, the atmosphere you will feel there cannot be described in words. You will feel living in a fairy tale, a voyager in time, in this magnificent place.
A very picturesque town with lots of pathways and side alleys. Some shops and restaurants and several churches. Well worth the hike and time to wander about not too bad for those of mature age. There is also an archaelogical museum. A long way up to the top though and not for the faint hearted.
Unique, picturesque and breathtaking views of cliffside homes and the sea. Hard to believe people actually live here. Strongly suggest wearing supportive shoes Leave the flip flops behind. There's a lot of climbing, slippery cobble stone paths everywhere. Your legs and feet will thank you for wearing proper shoes. Many restaurants to choose from. Island has a romantic ambiance, great... 更多
