This small museum is located in the underground tunnels dug in a hillside, not far from the port of Lakki. The outside of the entrance looks (deliberately?) uncared for but has some interesting WW2 vehicles with real bullet holes on the windscreens which caught our sons imagination. Amazing collection of WW2 artifacts. Horrific reminders of Battle of Leros and the horrors of war. The location...in underground tunnels built by the Italians....
WW2 bunkers are now tunnels housing a museum. They are filled with Greek, German, British and Italian equipment. A plane, tank and army vehicles are at the entrance. There is also a little church up the hill. Worth the visit. It was part of a coach tour around Leros. Stayed for an hour.
Set in a very pretty wooded area the museum is in an actual underground tunnel. It is full of photographs of local and German soldiers who were involved in the battle of Leros. A very interesting place showing the true history of Leros. Definitely worth a visit if you want to see some history of a lovely Greek island.
