The so-called "Hill of Ares" is such a hidden gem within Athens yet it offers fantastic views of the Acropolis and right across Athens. Really enjoy sunset and the view of city and acropolis from this place. Its not hard to climb up. there is a stairs provided, or you can climb like a pro if you wish.
I had wanted to visit this place mentioned in Acts 17:19 where the Apostle Paul addressed the Athenians about their worship of 'The Unknown God' and said he was there to explain about Him. Idid not expect an outdoor setting like this but it bring a sense of how the people in those times met to discuss politics and ideas.... 更多
Really nice place with great view to the city. I recommend to take some bottle of wine and drink it there with your friends/love. It is really romantic, also during the night.
You can't beat this important place for the life of the apostle Paul. Aside from this it's a great vantage point of the city and back at the Acropolis above and the Agora below. It's helpful if you've been around town a bit before heading here to take it all in perspective. One recommendation is to just take the stairs... 更多
This is a small hill just below the Acropolis providing superb views of it. While there are stairs to reach it, the hill itself has a slippery rock surface, so be careful. It really is a nice feeling to stand on it and look up at the Acropolis. The name means Hill of Ares, where a mythical trial took place... 更多
SO you climb a big rock, you look down at Athene's... Which for the record isn't the most beautiful city from up above. It supposedly has some history (important meeting place for Athenians), but despite being a major history buff, I really couldn't tell that. I mean, for all I know, my house can be built on an Important meeting... 更多
