Fairytale gardens and grotto in this elaborate house, there are some steep paths to get to the top of the gardens but the views are amazing, entrance is only €4, there is a cafe on site.
If you only visit this place for the gardens you will be glad you did. A surprise awaits round every corner and the design cleverly uses the caves and terrain to get the best views and fun. The outside of the house is an architectural master piece but inside there is nothing but information boards, completely boring.
Absolutely beautiful and unique, but very, very crowded even in early April. It's terrific for children with lots and lots of sites to explore, but not super stroller accessible (maybe a bit). Very steep with lots of nooks and crannies.
Quinta da Regaleira is in Sintra. Sintra is one of the best places I've ever been in my life. Nature and mistery. Unique climate and tradition. Quinta da Regaleira reflects all that. 5 starts
The garden is one surprise after the other. The villa itself is less interesting except for the rooftop alchemist lab. You need a few hours to see everything in the garden. We were nearly alone in the villa and garden wich made it even more special!
This garden was our favorite thing in all of Sintra and Lisbon. It is great how the tunnels are on the map so you can explore. The Masonic well is amazing, with the stones on pivots so you can enter and exit. The cafe on site is nice, too. You can sit outside and admire the house, chapel and garden.
The grounds and interior of Quinta are immaculately maintained. I loved the ornate detail inside the estate. There is lots to see and do--you can easily spend 3-4 hours if you're up for walking. Bring a flashlight to tour the caverns. Take time to climb down the well, but skip the aquarium.
We were looking forward to visiting the gardens and the gothic caves behind the pond. It was fun for my teens to find their way through the caves, they were pitch black and you couldn't see anything without a flashlight or light from you cellphone. They ended up walking around the caves with some teens that were visiting from Spain.... 更多
Beautifull old house with huge garden in Sintra. Excelent for nature lovers. best known for its medieval and folk origins. There are several medieval pubs near by. Its quite moisty and gets cold real fast once the sun is set (even in the summer)so wear a coat/jacket just in case
Give yourself a full 2+ hours and go. Lose yourself in the underground tunnels (bring a small torch) and wind around the labyrinth of grotto's and wells. It is magical and occultish, with initiation wells and pleasure gardens and all sorts of things to discover. The house is kinda boring unless you are into architecture, but the grounds are endless.... 更多
We only had a couple of hours on the morning we left Sintra. We were highly recommended not to miss the Quinta Da Regaleira and we were really glad we made it. We didn't have time for the house but the garden is fabulous. Someone's incredible fantasy left for all of us to enjoy.
The gardens and Palace of regaleira are something superb to see and walk around, they are full of surprises that with wonder the visitants!
Wow! what a wonderful quirky garden ... up down and underground ... a delight ... a fabulous folly of a garden with such attention to detail on such a huge scale. Not to be missed. Can't wait to go again in another season.
