One of the most beautiful opera houses in Europe. It is small but the inside walls and spaces are well-decorated and it seems you are living in the beginning of the XX century. The Theater also has a nice coffee/restaurant with tables outside and in the summer there is a festival ("Festival ao Largo") with classical music (including operas) outside.
You can pass by not remarking the Opera House. From outside it is very simple, inside is beautiful. They built it after the Italian Opera Houses. This is a very old house one of the first in Europe. It was opened in 1793.The king's loge is extraordinary, Giovanni Appiani Italian master made the decoration.
What a surprise this was ! The theatre is a gem, excellent acoustics and the looks of a real European opera hall. We attended Rossini La Cenerentola a relatively less known opera. It was a real delight. Highly professional.
