For those that like to see interesting architecture this is a must. From a fairly simple and coventional exteria the inside is spectactular. Make sure you visit the 'bone chapel'!
Many people go to see the bone chapel but lots to see in the main church too with English and portugese explanations by painting and statues , €2 to get in , main church beatifiul , bone church interesting although felt uncomfortable in side ,

Had heard about this chapel of bones from a friend in Portugal so on a day out in Faro made a effort to seek it out. Just out of the town centre and a straight walk from the bus station.The church itself is on of the best I have seen and the chapel at the rear a must see.
We arrived late in the day (it closes at 17:00) in weekdays in the winter. The guide who greeted us was absolutely delightful plus it only cost a Euro per person. This church is located in the city centre next to the post office. A long approach over shallow steps gives it a feeling of grandeur and, upon entering, one is taken aback by the incredibly ornate nave and altar - so much gold carving and statues. Very nice church in the center of Faro, suring the holidays and weekends you can see a lot of people neraby not only the locals but tourists too.
