Another of the historic entrance gates to the city. Obviously not near the tourist centre, but if you are having a walk on the outskirts of Bruges, worth a stop and a look.
I'm not sure if you are able to go inside. Very impressive structure.
The Smedenpoort was about a 10-15 minute walk from our hotel and it was a lovely stroll to work off a big dinner. The Smedenpoort is one of the many Medieval town gates in Bruges. There are beautiful views on the river on both sides. The river has a nice paved paths that you can continue your walk in both...
This is one of many gates that you go through to enter the town. I think they are great and adds some charm to the town. There are varies ones around the town and all have a different design.
Worth a look as we were walking past them anyway, but certainly not something to go out for way for.
