The general expositing of this old abbey is very interesting, historically. The exposition about the racecircuit in Francorchamps in a terrific bonus! Other expo's not very interesting.
Though I'm not a petrolhead the museum of motor racing was interesting. My favourite historical exhibits weren't linked to racing at all - the early C20th bicycle with fittings for a Mauser rifle, used by border guards, and a motorbike fitted with a leather bath chair on the front for Milord/Madame and the chauffeur on the bike seat. An exhibition... 更多
We started with the history of the Abbey which you could do in great depth (if you listened to all the narratives) or just watch the video screen with synchronised audio. We then went on to the exhibition on Guillaume Apollinaire - French poet and art critic. Again you could spend hours in this area if you wish. After that... 更多
My husband and I had originally attended to visit the Spa- Francorchamps museum below Abbaye de Stavelot, however, as the admission to the Abbaye was also included in the price we decided to tour the Abbay and we're glad we did, as the history of the beautiful place is very interesting. Would recommend if you have a a hour or... 更多
In the center of the small town of Stavelot one finds a gorgeous ruin of a cathedral. Behind it is the abbey museum. A collection of racing cars and bikes is displayed in the basement, obviously related to the nearby circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. The ground level is mostly about the history of the abbey. There are many nice videos, and... 更多
The Abbey houses 3 museums; one on the racetrack at Spa- Francorchamps, one on the Abbey and the other houses temporary exhibitions ( at time of writing on Anne Frank ). The entrance fee of 9 Euros allows access to all 3 museums. Not surprisingly the information is in French but English audio-guides are available for the Abbey museum. The... 更多
Nice place to spend the day at. The Abbey display is the most in-depth one. None of this is in english so they give you a audio reader that you have to punch in the number of the display. My audio reader quit working about 1/2 way thru and didn't want to walk all the way to the reception desk... 更多
The Abbey and Stavelot are worth a visit. The Abbey hoist the Spa circuit museum and other expos at different times, pop it in the sat nav and put aside a few hours for a pleasant stop.
Motor part of museum was fantastic but the rest didn't hold our attention due to no English translation there were headsets but we couldn't get them to work . Lovely clean toilets and gift shop was nice not too expensive
