Den Helder is 1 hour and 15 minutes from Amsterdam by train. The trains during the day goes there every 30 minutes. The museum includes 2 ships one submarinne and exhibition about docks history in Den Helder and Dutch navy.

There is Submarine where you can go inside and see how is to be inside a submarine. Outside of standard tourist routes. Good restaurant is across the main road.

Enjoyed a couple hours in the museum and I only went in the main building, not the submarine. Gives a good historical account of Dutch history and naval affairs with emphasis on the "good" wars. A bit light on operations in South Africa and Indonesia.
