it's like fairytale. I love the view, love the surrounding. old building with big trees and the sound of a river. I can stay there for couple of hours just to enjoy the atmosphere
I visited this historical spot because I heard that it is the oldest city gate in the Netherlands. (I still am not sure about it) The place is nice to visit as it is not busy. You can visit this attraction in less than an hour. There are three floors of displays and a movie of the historical significance. It was interesting to see how complex the breastworks of entrenchment were around the city of Maastricht. The view from the third floor windows offered a great view of the park. Donations are accepted.
Remnants of the walled city are evident in this park along the river; city gate dates to 1299 and is in perfect condition; views from above the wall are very good; serene walking in the park along grassy paths; plenty of room to stroll and play here.
