We were so fortunate to be in Zurich during the Zuri Fest - which happens only every 3 years. This church is right on the river (Hence Wasserkirche i.e.: water church) and we were able to watch a person on a tight rope and other fun things going on. This photo is of the entrance the person taking pic must... 更多
The Wasserkirche is a church built on a small island in the Limmat, situated between the two main churches of medieval Zürich, the Grossmünster and the Fraumünster, at the Limmatquai and the Münsterbrücke. It seems likely that the original building was used for cult meetings. The meetings were centered on a stone now located in the crypt of the church.... 更多
Wasserkirche(=Water Church) is located right next to River Limmat. Easy to reach when you are walking along River Side towards Lake Zürich and Tram Stop right there too. On one side of the Church you can find famous Zwingli Statue
Worth to visit if you want to experience the Zwingli / Lutherian spirit. Church is very focused on telling the word - with ist little interior there are only few other to focus on. Also nice, if you can hear a concert.
Quite a small Church - and very modern on the inside. The stained glass Windows by Giacometti are very dark. When we were here the it was raining and then it was very difficult to see any details which is a shame. Not much else to see than the Windows.
Having just walked the Niederhof and found the Grossmunster closed at 11:30Am on a Sunday , we were especially disappointed when we found the Wasserkirche closed as well. We witnessed any number of folks trying to get into the church only to find the doors locked and no explanation. Disconcerting to say the least!!!
This was the last of the churches we visited in Zurich. As a church, it is pretty unremarkable. In fact, for such an old building, the inside was very modern. The external area, however, is very interesting. A covered area outside the entrance serves as both a venue for events put on by city officials as well as a dry... 更多
This small church bears witness to a lot of history. Even the status of the church as a church changed from time to time. It is worth seeing the crypt inside the church. From the outside the church does not seem impressive but its location near the river that gives it a bit of taste.
