There are many walks to and from the Wetterhorn which, despite being less well known than the Eiger, is higher. One of the best is from Pfingstegg in Grindelwald around the face of the Mattenberg. Though less well known than its neighbour, the notorious Eiger, I find the Wetterhorn is a much more beautiful site. It's north wall, though not as high, appears steeper and that the broken skyline lets the sun stroke it's face, allows one a better view. They are both great.
The place is quiet and full of beautiful hiking trails. It is away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. a must do if you like the peace and quiet amidst nature
this mountain has a glacier at the bottom with access by steps also a hotel with food and the post bus stops here too. there are a lot of walks to here and also more difficult ones on the mountain
Amazing, you must make it a part of your itinerary if you are traveling to Switzerland. There are many trails around the area good for individuals and families.
A chance to walk in the mountains and enjoy solitude with stunning views along the way. Walk from the Wetterhorn hotel to the Milchbach then on to the Pfingstegg and take the cable car back down to Grindelwald. Takes about two hours including a walk along the river back into the centre of Grindelwald.
Lovely restaurant/café at the road with lots of car parking. Play area for kids and paddling in the very cold river. Lots of walking all around with the Postbus stopping to take folks back to Grindelwald.
