This is a pigs ear of a visit. The lady at the ticket office is certainly not interested in breaking off her conversation with friends to pay you much attention. It sets the tone for a rather unfriendly and cold place. However, this Renaissance Palace in a largely medieval City is certainly a place to visit despite the rudeness of... 更多
The Duke's Palace has been amazingly restored but somehow it’s mostly dull and boring apart from the Duke’s library/studio, which is covered in beautiful marquetry exhibiting the most amazing trompe-l’oeil effects. It's the only part of the palace that's worth seeing. It's not the original as that is in the Metropolitan Museum New York. The other parts of this Museum... 更多
The Palazzo Ducale is another sight to spend some time viewing the grandeur of the local dignitary, as was, some few hundred years ago. There is an 'empty' quality to this place, almost as though the life has been sucked from it.
The summer palace of Federico da Montefeltro with the wood inlay study on the first floor near the courtyard, completely reproduced and installed (original in the Met in New York). The large salon on the first floor nearby is cavernous, the upper rooms cosy and with great views over the Gubbio valley - nice to imagine how Federico and his... 更多
This is one of those places where you can really step back in time. This wonderfully preserved and intriguing palace is located at one of the high points in Gubbio. Since Gubbio is on a hillside, one should definitely ask where the elevator is and take it to the top. There is a modest admission charge--worth it. The bottom floor... 更多
Palazzo Ducale is not such a pearl as the big one in Urbino but it is worth a visit to see archaeological findings, inner courtyard, rooms with paintings and first and foremost Studiolo. You can browse around alone and feel the spirit of Renaissance noblemen.
This should be a for sure stop on any visit to Gubbio. The building is situated in a lovely spot on a piazza with a view over the town and valley below. The interior of the building has not been ruined or distorted by poor restoration choices and offers an excellent glimpse at an earlier time.
Very interesting palace, with awesome views from the top floor and exhibits were informative. Make sure you start at the lower level and work your way up.
The ducal palace is not to be confused with the palace of the consuls in Piazza Grande. A beautiful and historic building in medieval style, also located in the heart of the city of Gubbio exactly near the church of the cathedral. You can come and visit the interior of this magnificent building, a kind of museum.
The outside is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, tall and lofty, standing on the west side of a sweeping square,... 更多
