One of the best sights for tourists. The views are breathtaking and and if you can tear your eyes away then the signs are informative and the history is fascinating. Keep your phone on, you'll get a total thirst for wanting to know more and more of the history. Make sure you travel all the way to the top and... 更多
I thought I would be able to touch the sky if I climbed any higher :) The highest point in Cortona, so all the good reason to build a Fortezza there. We walked up to it after we visited the St. Margherita church. We thought, we might as well go all the way to the top. There was some art... 更多
Breathtaking views for miles around Cortona! If you didn't bring your camera, despair. If you did, pack lunch, because you'll be clicking for quite some time. The fortress itself is an impressive mass of concrete walls designed for fortification which history proved to be unnecessary. However, its worth the visit.
We arrived and were clearly the first visitors they had the day. The teenager in charge of ticketing asked us to enter via the courtyard as he needed to switch the lights on inside the building. There was no one else so it made for a great experience. The views over the valley from the fort are also breathtaking. They... 更多
Spectacular 360 view from the battlements. The exhibitions were really interesting. Its a climb worth making, take water with you, you can replenish at the wee auto-shop at Santa Margherita
Sitting above Cortona this structure dominates and has tremendous views across the town and the surrounding plains. There is almost no explanation however of how the fort functioned or how is was built. We understand that at some time it was derelict. Worth the visit for the views alone and hopefully in time more interpretative information will be made available.
Do walk up from the town if you can manage to do so. The views from the fort are certainly worth the effort as the town, the valley, the lake and the distant hills are all spread out below you. I should have liked a description of the history of the fort rather than the photographic collection of Tuscan towns... 更多
It is quite a hike through town to the very top where the fort is located, but very rewarding. I recommend winding your way through the side streets and visiting the various churches and enjoying the local culture. You will eventually make your way to the top. If you try to follow the wall up the South east side, you... 更多
