Each room was differently decorated with unique ceilings and wall frescoes. A vast site and very interesting. The power on show in the elaborately decorated rooms is a part of the whole history of the place.
The palace complex is enormous and includes the Camera dedli Sposi and the Castello San Giorgio. This is the one building you have to see in Mantua.

Palazzo Ducale was the first place we visited in Mantua and from my point of view it's worth visiting. It's a big complex with a lot of gardens, inner yards, rooms and buildings. Palazzzo Ducale is well worth visiting for the architecture, the gardens; the art, the ambience and for any other reason you can imagine. It is a beautiful, huge, fascinating palace and the views from many windows are lovely too. We loved the gardens as well.
A huge palace in the cosy city of Mantova: a peacefull and absolutely surprising place. Architecture, painting, sculpture, and literature: all these arts enclosed in Palazzo Ducale's walls. It's a travel through Italian an European history and art starting in the middle age. Don't miss it!
