The castle sits at one end of the seaside promenade and is highly visible as it sits out onto the sea. It was not opened during our visit, so we had only looked around on the outside. Worth a visit both during the day and night for photos.
This castle is in a prominent position on the lungomare, and was built originally in 1551 to protect Rapallo from pirate invasions. Late it became a prison, but is now a venue for exhibitions.
Oh the times I had on this unopened castle. We were very pleased that the Castello was open, as it was very interesting!! We were staying at the Lido hotel right in front of the castle. We noticed that it was open, and went in.
